Where does EDUN LIVE manufacture their tees?

We work with factories and fabric mills in Uganda, Tanzania, Lesotho, Mauritius and South Africa. All of our EDUN LIVE T-shirts are 100 percent MADE IN AFRICA.

How does long-term sustainable employment and trade in developing countries fight poverty?

Now this is a question that we are glad to answer. African countries need to invest in health, water, roads and education. In order to depend less on aid, they need more trade. Developing their goods and services networks increases their industry and progresses their resources, resulting in eventual self-sufficiency. In 1980 Africa had a 6 percent stake in world trade. By 2002 it had dropped to 2 percent. But now, today, if this were to increase by only 1 percent, it would mean $70 billion more in exports every year. That’s actually three times more than the international aid currently received by Africans.

Is EDUN LIVE a charity?

No. We sell T-shirts and we want profits. A high-volume of sales means long-term economic sustainability, which is what we are really about.

How are you going to do that?

We are committed to working with our factories in Africa so that their capabilities and capacities can develop. This makes them a viable resource not only for us, but for other brands as well.

How do you support the factory community?

We have supported factories by donating wells, training employees on HIV/AIDS awareness and supporting farms wanting to make the change from conventional to organic cotton through our Conservation Cotton Initiative with the Wildlife Conservation Society. Our main concern is creating jobs and then enabling the infrastructure and networks to keep things running. We want other companies to see how we did this, so they can do it too. This stuff isn’t secret, nor is it brain surgery. It’s just incredibly important to humankind and to the planet earth. Click here to find out about our factory standards.

How can I get involved?

One easy way is to ask your school, employer, church, whatever where they get their tees. Suggest EDUN LIVE as an alternative. Be our FACEBOOK fan, or MYSPACE friend and link us to your friends and networks. Spread the word on how good our shirts look and feel. Tell people what we do in Africa. And tell us what YOU think will help - drop a note in our idea box.
