Why Buy edun LIVE | The edun LIVE Story | A Message from the edun LIVE Team

Dear edun LIVE Customer:

Thank you for your interest in our blank t-shirts. We would like to take a moment to explain who we are and why edun LIVE could be important to your business.

edun LIVE is the recently introduced sub-brand of EDUN, the socially conscious clothing company launched in the Spring of 2005 by Ali Hewson and Bono. The purpose of edun LIVE is to offer companies and consumers the chance to trade both ethically and competitively. Because conscious trading is fast becoming a consumer demand, it is also now a necessary element for successful business.

The mission of edun LIVE is to create trade in Africa through high volume sales of our blank t-shirts to the worldwide wholesale market. From the fields where the cotton is picked to the final stitch, all products are 100% African, or grow to sew African. This means that the economic and social benefits of each step of the value chain remain with, and have a direct impact on, those who make edun LIVE products - especially women, who form a large percentage of the workforce.

Why is this important? It is important because Africa accounted for six percent of world trade in 1980, but by 2002, Africa’s share of world trade had dropped to only two percent. If Africa could regain its share by one percentage point, the continent would earn an additional $70 billion in exports each year. The skills required in clothing manufacture are ones that many can learn, and the investments are relatively low. As a result, the clothing industry is a primary means by which these struggling African economies can climb onto the ladder of development.

The edun LIVE team has visited many of the local African communities where we produce – they are alive with remarkable and dignified people who want to support themselves with a steady income. Your edun LIVE purchase provides these communities with jobs that otherwise might not exist. This leads to better education for their children, better healthcare, and an all around better standard of living. Sustainable trade like this is truly an effective way of alleviating poverty in Africa.

We urge you to buy t-shirts for your business and help turn back the tide in Africa. This is not charity; this is informed, ethical and responsible trading. To make a success, we recognise that we must deliver top quality products at a competitive price. Our service is competitive with any other clothing company you have used in the past, and we look forward to working with you.

Sepela gabotse – Hamba kahle – Go well.
